remebering last used folder

I have folders on my HD where I save pictures/programs I download from the internet etc. XP remembers where I last saved a particular type of file (eg pictures will go into a Pictures folder, programs will go in my Downloads folder). Vista doesn't seem to remember the last-used folder - if I'm saving a sequence of pictures from a website I have to manually select the required folder each time
Is this a bug or deliberate?

Doesn't do well with recent items either. XP is great with remembering and presenting about 10 recent items. Vista remembers only certain items ? and often forgets those on a reboot. I use this frequently and will find it hard to do without if RTM doesn't handle recent items like XP

LOL - I noticed that too. The Recent Items menu is more like "A random sampling of things you may or may not have used recently, but don't expect to find anything you actually used recently here".
